Our client moved to the Isle of Wight to enjoy their retirement and decided to fully embrace green technology.
A strong factor in the decision process was the government’s RHI scheme, where 10.85p per kWh is paid to the owner of eligible renewable heating technology in quarterly instalments over 7 years. This effectively turns the cost of heating upgrades into worthwhile investments.
The Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) covers the heating and hot water demands of our client’s property, whilst running on the energy generated by the 14 solar panel system installed on the roof. After the initial cost of installation, this means that energy costs for running the pump are at a minimum!
This project also included the connection of the solar panels to a 7.2kW Pylon electrical storage system (battery). This ensures that the energy produced by the panels is saved up for later use, rather than being sold to the grid and having to be bought back when it’s too dark for the panels to produce energy. This is especially practical in the winter months when the demands for electricity in homes are higher in the evenings.
Finally, we were pleased to install a Zappi charging point for our client’s electric car which, thanks to the solar panels and battery systems, means free fuel!
