SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAICS (PV) - SAVE MONEY BY GENERATING YOUR OWN ENERGY

Solar panel electricity systems, also known as photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells don't need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to power your home.

What are the benefits of solar electricity?

  • Supplied by nature - solar energy is free and abundant and can be made wherever there is sunlight. Once you've paid for the initial installation, your electricity costs will be reduced.
  • With the costs of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels reducing, they are becoming economically viable and environmentally sustainable.
  • Sell electricity back to the grid through the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). The SEG is an obligation set by the government for licensed electricity suppliers to offer a tariff and make payment to small-scale low-carbon generators for electricity exported to the National Grid, providing certain criteria are met.
  • Solar PV panels provide clean green energy - cutting your carbon footprint. Solar electricity is green renewable energy and doesn't release any harmful carbon dioxide or other pollutants.
  • Solar PV panels are silent so ideal for urban or built-up areas.
  • Protect yourself against future energy price rises.

Other products you might consider

Integrating a solar PV system with a battery storage solution is a smart way to leverage additional financial and energy security benefits for your home or business. By storing and using more of your self-generated electricity instead of exporting surplus energy back to the grid, you can realise even greater savings, in addition to further reducing your reliance on the National Grid.

How quickly can we get your solar photovoltaics (PV) system up and running?
Once you have accepted our quote, we aim to get your system up and generating within 6-8 weeks, subject to the site being ready for us to start.
What's the current VAT rate on solar PV installations in England?
For domestic solar PV installations, the VAT is now 0% until 2027 for systems that are purchased and installed by the same supplier.
How long do solar panels usually last?
The average lifespan for solar panels is around 25 years, but you can expect most to keep generating electricity after this date (if not at the same rate).
Are there any warranties on solar panels, inverters or batteries?
Our products all come with a manufacturer guarantee so you can have confidence in your system. Solar PV panels typically come with two guarantees: a product warranty and a power warranty.

1. The product warranty covers defects in the equipment and usually lasts 10-12 years.

2. The power warranty states the expected output of a panel after certain periods of time, and most companies offer linear degradation warranties of around 0.5% output loss per year.

All PV is affected by gradual degradation in efficiency, so the output will decrease. If the panels do not perform as promised, you may be able to get them replaced or repaired.

Solar PV panels are not the only parts that come with a guarantee, other components such as the inverter and batteries come with their own.

Inverters have shorter warranties, usually 5-10 years with the option of an extension. You should expect to have one inverter replacement during the life of the system.

Battery warranties are more complex, depending on the type of technology used, and may be based on years of operation or number of cycles.

Warranty periods vary by product, these will be outlined in our quotation.
Do Pure Green Energy offer a workmanship guarantee on installations?
Pure Green Energy provides a 2-year workmanship warranty on all domestic installations. Where there is a need to claim on a manufacturer’s warranty within the first 2 years, we will make the claim from the manufacturer on your behalf, and we will replace the faulty equipment free of charge under the manufacturer’s standard terms and conditions.
