Commercial: The Garlic Farm

The Garlic Farm, founded almost 40 years ago, is the largest specialist supplier of garlic in the UK.

Included within the ever-expanding and improving site is a restaurant, six holiday cottages and the main farm shop.

In May 2014 the decision was taken to install a biomass system to serve all the properties on the site.

A 199kW biomass boiler is automatically fed by wood pellets from a custom-designed fuel store. The pellets are blown into the fuel stores from a specialist lorry using a vacuum system.

The biomass system fits well with the ethical policy of the Garlic Farm. It demonstrates the farm’s green credentials to its customers, holidaymakers and visitors to the Education Centre.
