5 Bed house 216 sq metres with 3 showers and a bathroom. Built and extended over the last 200 years with a variety of insulation from the very latest ,highest standards down to old non insulated parts of the house.

A Sanyo CO2 air source heat pump feeding a thermal store with instantaneous non stored hot water was fitted in March 2009 as the main source of heating and domestic hot water. This is backed up by the existing Calor gas system for very cold spells if necessary. The Calor system has been retained to run the Aga for cooking.

"I have been delighted with the constant supply of hot water, particularly with grand children and guests staying with us throughout the year. The system managed to cope with our mixture of under floor heating and radiators to give us a very comfortable background heat. We have noticed a significant saving in running costs"

5 Bed Farmhouse 250 sq metres in part up to 400years old, with 2 showers and a bathroom Insulation was variable in different parts of the house.

A CO2 Sanyo air source heat pump feeding a thermal store with instantaneous non stored hot water was fitted in July 2009 as the main source of domestic hot water. A solar thermal system had already been fitted and the existing oil system was retained as a back up for really cold spells. All three systems were integrated to give the most efficient system possible.

"We initially looked at ground source heat pumps, but found that because our house is not suited to under floor heating they were not a viable option, so we chose the Sanyo, which with its CO2 refrigerant is capable of delivering hot water at 65 degrees without using supplementary electrical heating."

Large country house approx 329 sq metres . Several hundred years old with large rooms, high ceilings and large traditional windows.

The key to heating this large house was a high level of insulation and the fitting of under floor and wall heating. This was done in collaboration with the customers own workforce.

A Waterkotte ground source heat pump was fitted in 2007 and supplemented by a solar thermal system in 2009 to give an efficient supply of domestic hot water. The project has now been extended and a second ground source heat pump will be fitted later this year.

"I would recommend a ground source heat pump to anyone who has the space."
